Dr. Kaihao Zhang will join HKUST(Guangzhou) as an assistant professor in Smart Manufacturing Thrust (SMMG) in Systems Hub in November 2021. We are seeking highly motivated students and researchers interested in 3D printing, metal materials, or nanomechanics to join the group.

Before joining HKUST(GZ), Dr. Zhang is a postdoc working on metal additive manufacturing at MIT. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, and B.Eng. in Energy & Environment System Engineering at Zhejiang University. His research focused on (i) rapid graphene synthesis process, (ii) graphene-metal interface engineering for high-performance metal matrix nanocomposites, and (iii) novel metal additive manufacturing techniques.
